“Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre” is an anthology that was directed by Shinobu Tagashira and features a soundtrack that was provided by Yuki Hayashi. This collection features some of the most bizarre and dreadful horror tales that were created by none other than a genius in the horror genre, Junji Ito. Both the opening and closing sequences of the first episode do an excellent job of describing what was going through the mind of the maestro. The closing sequence focuses on how the maestro may have imagined or even used his own blood to create masterpieces when he could not locate a pen or any kind of ink.
The visual trajectory of the introduction explores a somewhat colourized version of a glimpse into his head, with the patterns and designs describing an utterly amazing psychedelic experience. This glimpse is colourized. The first episode of the series is a retelling of the story titled “The Strange Hikizuri Siblings,” and it also makes reference to the story titled “The Second Daughter’s Lover.”
