OPERATION FORTUNE: RUSE DE GUERRE
In Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre, Jason Statham, Josh Hartnett, and Aubrey Plaza wear very nice clothes as they walk along a pier.
Action Genre: Guy Ritchie is the director
Hugh Grant, Aubrey Plaza, and Jason Statham are in it.
On screens March 3, 2023.
The latest movie by Guy Ritchie didn’t come out last year because the company that distributed it ran out of money. It’s said to be coming out in some countries in January 2023, and it’s likely that it will be available to stream in the U.S., but it’s not clear if this means it will debut on a service or as a stand-alone VOD title. However it happens, just get it out! The whole world needs to see Jason Statham and Aubrey Plaza work together.
Genre: Sports & drama
Michael B. Jordan is the director.
Michael B. Jordan, Jonathan Majors, and Tessa Thompson play the main roles.
On March 3, 2023, there will be released in theaters.
Michael B. Jordan does a Stallone in more than one way: he takes over directing his most famous character, just like Stallone did with the Rocky movies, and he removes Stallone from the film. (It was a good choice since Rocky’s story was pretty much wrapped up in the first two movies.) In this threequel, the son of Apollo Creed faces off against a person from his past. That person is Jonathan Majors, who seems to be the go-to villain for 2023. Jordan shot some scenes with IMAX cameras.
In this shot from the film Scream 6, a person wearing a Ghostface mask can be seen standing on a crowded subway car in New York City.
Directors: Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett
Cast: Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox
First appearing in theaters on March 10, 2023
The slasher series gets back on its late ’90s schedule with the arrival of this sixth chapter just over a year after the fifth one. This comes after two gaps of 11 years separated Scream 3, Scream 4, and the fifth one (which was curiously titled Scream). Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney, was written out of the film after a disagreement over compensation led to a rewrite of the script. However, many of the same actors from the previous film will be back, including Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and scream queen Jenna Ortega. They will be joined by series regular Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Scream 4 fan-favorite Kirby (Hayden Panettiere). If you think that’s a lot of people, keep in mind that the series has moved to New York City, making this the first major iteration that takes place somewhere else than Woodsboro. You can anticipate jokes regarding the fact that a significant portion of Jason Takes Manhattan actually occurs aboard a boat.
Star Cast Willem Defoe,
Director of Photography: Vasilis Katsoupis Genre: Thriller
Premiering in theaters on March 17
The teaser for Within was captivating, and as a result, we will be keeping an eye out for it in March. When a heist goes wrong, a skilled art thief finds himself locked inside a penthouse that is loaded with priceless artwork. This idea alone is compelling. Inside goes from thinking, “Well, that could be fascinating,” to thinking, “Hey, THAT could be interesting!” when it turns out that the top art thief is played by Willem Dafoe.
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods are the film’s directors.
In the film “65,” Adam Driver seems disheveled and wields a futuristic rifle.
Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, and Chloe Coleman are among those cast.
Premiering in theaters on March 17
A single human being survives the impact of his spaceship landing on a planet. It seems that planet was Earth all along… And now he has traveled back in time by 65 million years! The role of the guy is played by Adam Driver, and the dinosaurs that the man must escape from are played by special effects. Its premise has been kept a secret for over a year; its recent disclosure was probably intended to be present to the world for the holiday season.
SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS
David F. Sandberg is the director.
In the teaser trailer for Shazam!, Shazam appears to be having therapy sessions as he sits on a couch. The wrath of the gods.
Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, and Zachary Levi are in the cast.
Premiering in theaters on March 17
Shazam, portrayed by Zachary Levi and also known as Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, expresses concern that he does not know where he belongs in the superhero world in the trailer for Fury of the Gods. Imagine how he will feel if the DC movie universe goes through the reported whole reboot and in the process gets rid of popular versions of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and yes, Shazam! In the meantime, Fury of the Gods is the sequel to the successful movie from 2019, and it pits the Shazam family against another family called the Daughters of Atlas. Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler portray the roles of these characters.
In Furie, Veronica Ngô is seen choking a man while simultaneously holding a gun to his head.
Director: Veronica Ngo
Cast: Veronica Ngo, Song Luan, Dong Anh Quynh On Netflix March 23
I’m a great admirer of the Vietnamese revenge drama Furie, which was a massive hit at home and made a big splash globally on Netflix. It broke box-office records in Vietnam, while also making a major splash internationally. The Princess was released just a year ago, and its director, Le-Van Kiet, moved on to direct another film. But, Veronica Ngo, who also starred in The Princess, is back to direct and feature in this prequel. I’m really excited to see what Ngo can do both in front of and behind the camera since she’s one of the most dynamic screen fighters working in the industry now, and I’m looking forward to working with her in both capacities. —PV
JOHN WICK: THE FOURTH CHAPTER
In the John Wick 4 teaser, Keanu Reeves may be seen in action.
Chad Stahelski is the director.
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård
Premiering in theaters on March 24
Chad Stahelski keeps the faith with John Wick 4, continuing the increasingly complicated story of a skilled assassin (Keanu Reeves) who has defied the ultra-powerful governing body known as the High Table. This is being done while Chad Stahelski’s John Wick cohort David Leitch continues his tour of various big-ticket franchises. Donnie Yen and Bill Skarsgard have both signed on to star in this next installment of the bullet-spewing, neon-lit action epic.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES
In the upcoming film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith, the three of them are seen sitting together and eating turkey legs. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 31.
Fantasy is the genre, and John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are the directors.
Cast: Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page
It should be made clear that the most recent attempt to bring D&D to life is not a legacy sequel to the forgotten 2000 flop starring Jeremy Irons (or its even more forgotten sequels); rather, it is a new story about a group of rogue-ish adventurer types (Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, and Sophia Lillis) who endanger and then must attempt to save their medieval-style world. The cast includes Regé-Je Co-director John Francis Daley has a wealth of experience in traditional gaming; on Freaks & Geeks, he portrayed the role of a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) aficionado named Sam Weir, and he also directed the hilarious film Game Night alongside his usual colleague Jonathan Goldstein.
