If you are staying in the Central Business District, going to the Lyttleton port is a fantastic option for a day trip. After you have finished exploring the port town, you should make your way to Corsair Bay, which is the ideal little beach for unwinding with your loved ones.
There is a really good grassy area that is great for sunbathing and is also an excellent spot to watch the children play in the shallow waters.
